Providing educational assessment, advice and support to adults, parents, children and educational staff regarding dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties.
The Dyslexia Centre:
- Completes educational psychology assessments with adults and children, including workplace assessments for dyslexia.
- Enables direct access to a chartered educational psychologist.
- Writes informed and accurate reports relating to the client's learning profile.
- Can assess core cognitive, literacy, visual, auditory and motor skills associated with specific learning difficulties.
- Can advise on auditory processing disorder, auditory processing difficulties, and visual stress (including coloured lenses).
- Coordinates support for students, adults and children with dyslexia including negotiating training with educational staff where necessary.
- Organises and implements high quality training and work shops on relevant topics for teachers and parents.
- Offers independent educational psychology and literacy (dyslexia) assessments to adults and if requested provides appropriate information to employers of organisations.
- Negotiates work with University Student Services to enable their students access to appropriate support. We are also able to assist private and state schools requiring assessment or advice.
- Have staff trained in 'Sound Therapy' including both Johansen IAS and The Listening Program (TLP) for auditory processing disorder (difficulties).
- Have staff trained in tests for visual stress and provision of coloured lenses (e.g. Harris Filters).
- Serves the South East of the UK (East Sussex, West Sussex, Brighton, Kent, Hampshire and South East London).
- We are often able to travel for multiple assessments or organise an assessment with an educational psychologist in other areas of the UK.
